Frequently Asked Questions
Q: May I see the court file for my case?
A: Yes. Go to Arkansas Court Connect with the following link: https://caseinfo.arcourts.gov/opad. Type in the name of the defendant and put in the county where the offense occurred, and you’ll find the case file.
Q: I am a victim. Can I have my case dropped?
A: The decision to drop the case is up to us, but your input is a serious factor in our decision. Justice and public safety will be our primary concern.
Q: I need to report a crime that I want you to prosecute. Do I call you?
A: You should report crimes directly to law enforcement. If it is an emergency, call 911. Reporting the case to us directly could make us a witness to the case. We cannot prosecute a case if we are a necessary witness.
Q: I am a defendant. Can I call and talk to a Deputy Prosecutor?
A: Not if you are represented by an attorney. If you have an attorney, we are ethically required to speak to your attorney. If it is a misdemeanor or traffic case, and you do not have an attorney, we may speak with you.
Q: When is my court date?
A: If you have an attorney, you must ask him or her. If you do not have an attorney, contact the district clerk’s office in the county where your case is to figure out your next court date.
Q: Do you Prosecute Hot checks?
A: Yes. Contact the Deputy Prosecutor’s Office in your county and ask them to send you a form that you can fill out. Once received, if the criteria are met, we will get the process started.

Victim Reparations
Arkansas Crime Victims Reparations are funds available to help defray the cost due to crime victimization. Reparations and restitution are not the same.
An innocent victim of a violent crime (including DWI) may qualify for financial help from the Crime Victims Reparations Board. This money may help pay for medical expenses, or other costs related to personal injuries that were caused by a violent crime.
The crime was reported to law enforcement within 72 hours unless in the case of Sexual Assault within a 96 reporting window.
An application for assistance is received within one year of the date of the crime
The victim cooperates with the investigation
The victim did not contribute to the crime
The Arkansas Crime Victims Reparations Program, administered by the Department of Public Safety on behalf of the Crime Victims Reparations Board, provides financial compensation to victims who have suffered personal injury or death as the result of violent crime.
Restitution: If a victim wishes to seek Restitution, the victim/ victim family representative must discuss the request with the victim advocate, who will discuss it with you.
